    Jak unikać infekcji oczu

Red eyes, burning conjunctiva, or a feeling of dryness? The cause may be germs that have entered the eyes and caused an infection. One of the best ways to avoid common eye ailments is proper hygiene. Here are a few tips on how to maintain it.

    1. The most important rule of hygiene is handwashing. Doing this regularly and automatically throughout the day helps limit the spread of viruses and bacteria. These are what cause conditions such as conjunctivitis or corneal ulcers (ulcus corneae).
    2. Additionally, you should wash your hands before direct contact between your hands and your eyes, such as before removing or inserting contact lenses. If you don’t need to bring your hands near your face, don’t do it. Especially in public places.
    3. Cosmetic particles and unhygienic makeup tools can also be harmful to the eyes. Therefore, first, thoroughly remove your makeup, preferably using natural cosmetics that won’t cause allergies; second, regularly clean your makeup tools. Mascara wands, brushes, eyelash curlers, and sponges collect a lot of germs.
    4. It is essential to wash your face thoroughly before bed. This will help you get rid of any harmful microorganisms that may have come into contact with your eyes throughout the day.
    5. Change your bedding to clean sheets often. Don’t forget to wash your comforters and pillows as well. Neglecting this can lead to allergies, skin irritation, rashes, and other infections that can also affect your eyes.
    6. Don’t neglect the hygiene of your eyewear! This applies to both prescription glasses and sunglasses. Clean them regularly, and from time to time, disinfect them with special surface disinfectants. These products will kill viruses and bacteria accumulated on the lenses and frames
