6 kroków do lepszej higieny

There are certain health and hygiene rules that are rarely heard of or… are taken with a grain of salt. Here are 6 such rules worth following. We explain why!

Hang up your laundry immediately after washing

Wet laundry left in the washing machine for too long doesn’t just develop an unpleasant, musty odor. The washing machine drum—a warm and humid place—creates the perfect conditions for all kinds of germs to multiply. So if you hang your laundry up after a few hours, your clothes will be covered with all sorts of unwanted microorganisms.

Change your pillowcase at least once a week

While we sleep, our face and head sweat, and all the microorganisms are absorbed into the pillow. That’s why changing the pillowcase frequently should become a habit for everyone. This simple action can be very helpful for people with skin problems.

Brush your teeth after lunch

Brushing your teeth twice a day—in the morning and at night—is the minimum. It’s a good idea to keep toothpaste and a toothbrush with you so you can brush your teeth at least once during the day as well. This way, food particles or the coffee you often drink at work won’t linger on your teeth until late in the evening.

Wash your makeup brushes

Makeup tools collect not only cosmetic residues—foundation, liquid foundation, eyeshadow, and lipstick—but also dead skin cells and bacteria found on the skin. To avoid transferring them back to your face, remember to clean and disinfect your brushes regularly.

Close the toilet seat when flushing

When you flush the toilet, microorganisms are released into the air. They can settle on objects, clothing, and skin even several meters away from the toilet bowl. Simply closing the lid before flushing reduces the number of fecal bacteria in the immediate vicinity.

Wash your belly button thoroughly

In a report published in The Atlantic, a group of scientists announced the results of their study, in which they detected 2,368 types of bacteria in samples taken from the navels of 60 people. Bacteria thrive in the nooks and crannies of the navel, so pay more attention to cleaning it.
